Plans for a Pembrokeshire Outdoor Volunteer Organisers’ Network

EcoDewi was really pleased to be invited to partake in initial discussions to create a new “Green Team” in Pembrokeshire whose aim will be to support organisations that recruit, manage and lead volunteers on outdoor projects, mainly conservation work.

Initiated by Tom Moses from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority (PCNPA) and coordinated with the support of Louise Wilkinson of PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Volunteer Services), a handful of organisations including EcoDewi have been looking at how a new network might be able to better support groups, especially smaller community groups. Initial ideas involve sharing experiences regarding policies and health & safety, especially in times like now, advice on recruiting volunteers and properly supporting and managing them, as well as sharing volunteers, equipment and tools subject to different needs and supporting each other with our different projects.

Overall it seems like a really worthwhile new network that hopefully will benefit many organisations in Pembrokeshire and making volunteering experiences even better.
