Community gardening in the sun

Our first volunteering weekend at Erw Dewi / Dewi’s Acre took place on Saturday 22nd May and the sun was out to welcome us. After so much rainfall and warmer temperatures, the weeds have been coming up in full force so the new community garden needed a good team of volunteers to help out. 10 keen locals helped out, including two little ones who themselves got stuck in!

As well as weeding, we managed to plant more raspberry canes, squash and pumpkins (that had been grown from seed in our greenhouse), as well as some wildflowers and herbs that were supplied as part of the community development package from Keep Wales Tidy and the Local Places for Nature scheme.

There is loads more to do and everyone is welcome, whether a local resident or visitor to the area. More events are planned every other Friday and Saturday as follows:
