COCA community farm starts

Caerhys Organic Community Agriculture (COCA) is a community supported agriculture scheme based at Caerhys Farm in Berea and is the result of meetings between Caerhys farmer, Gerald Miles, and St Davids Eco City Group. At the time it was the only scheme of its kind in Pembrokeshire.

By the weekend, every resident of St Davids should have received a simple survey 📄 through their letterbox, asking for their thoughts on tourism in St Davids - what works👍, what doesn’t work👎 and ideas to improve things💡. This has been arranged by a small group of locals from organisations including St Davids City Council , St Davids Peninsula Tourist & Trade Association, Oriel y Parc , Eco Dewi , University of Wales Trinity Saint David and other local businesses who are working together to find ways of weaving sustainable principles into the heart of managing tourism within the City.💚🌍 📥 Please return your paper surveys to the boxes at Oriel y Parc, St Davids Food or Wine or TYF by Sunday 6th February. Just had a great chat with Jess from the Wales Res Just had a great chat with Jess from the Wales Resilient Ecological Network (WaREN), a project led by North Wales Wildlife Trust about whether we can help with tacking invasive species in the St Davids Peninsula. We were also chatting to Pembrokeshire Coast about this last year so hopefully we can pull together some collaborative action for volunteers to get stuck in with! First up might be to remove Himalayan Balsam (see photos) which is a nightmare along river tributaries in particular. If you know of any balsam or other invasive species in the peninsula, please add a comment and let us know where. More info on how EcoDewi and volunteers can help out in the near future. 💪 Wow, what a great turnout to our beach clean 💪 Wow, what a great turnout to our beach clean on Saturday! 23 keen volunteers joined us to clean Porthlysgi beach and collate data to support the @mcs_uk .🌊 We cleared about 7 bags of rubbish including hundreds of bits of fishing like & nets and lots of fragments of fabric. Great to have mix of adults and youngsters including a couple of DofE Award students and also some holiday makers. Thank you to everyone who join us & as always a massive thanks to the Davies family at Treginnis Uchaf for allowing is to park & meet there. Our next beach clean is at Newgale on Sunday 30th January at 1030am. 🆕 A great day working with Llanrhian Community 🆕 A great day working with Llanrhian Community Council, @llanrhian_connected_community & Gwelliant Trefin Improvement to help start up a new beach clean & litter picking group.🌊🗑 Today we met with a amazing group of 7 locals at Porthgain to clean up the harbour at low tide and share our experience of running beach cleans. The group removed 5 full bags, including 3 doormats⁉️, plus a load of rope just from the harbour! 🔎 Watch this space for more info and we'll let you know once the group are up and running and who to contact for more info. Last minute call out for anyone who may be free to Last minute call out for anyone who may be free to help plants some tree whips tomorrow (Monday) and/or Tuesday afternoon from 2pm. Lower Treginnis - Farms for City Children have got 950 trees to plant, creating new hedgerows at Lower Treginnis. They could do wiry as much help as possible. If anyone would like to help out please email fiona@farmsforcitychildren.org just so they know rough numbers. They do have some spades and gardening gloves but if you have your own please bring them along!
