Our first “Talks & Networking” evening

We were really excited to have our very first Eco Dewi “Talks & Networking” evening on Thursday 5th March in The Meadow cafe in St. David’s. Not knowing how popular the event would be, it was great to see about 30 people attend, young & old, and there was a real buzz in the room as people mingled, got to know each other, shared ideas and listened to our guest speakers.

Geraint Michael, LEAF Project Officer, explaining what EcoDewi is all about!

Our first talk was by Ant Rogers, the Biodiversity Implementation Officer for the Pembrokeshire Nature Partnership. Ant gave a really insightful talk about the current biodiversity crisis and issues at a national, regional and then local Pembrokeshire level. Ant highlighted some worrying statistics but also some positive signs and the great opportunities for us all to help our struggling wildlife in Pembrokeshire.

Our second talk was from a team from Transition Bro Gwaun in Fishguard who have had loads of local success stories. Tom, Jasmine and Becky explained their group’s story and how they have developed as a community organisation sharing both the successes and a few failures which they have learnt from. We really appreciated their candidness and hopefully we’ll be able to learn lots from their experiences. We also really look forward to partnering and sharing information with them as a local group committed to both their community and the environment.

EcoDewi would like to thank our amazing speakers for giving up their time to join us and also to everyone who came along to listen and engage with the work we are trying to do. Huge thanks also to Nick & Emma for letting us use the upstairs in The Meadow and for serving drinks throughout the evening; the perfect venue to kick off our Talks & Networking events! Keep an eye out on our social media pages for future talks and events, and as always let us know if you want to get involved more or have project ideas.

The Meadow cafe is located at 18 High Street, St. David’s, SA62 6SD.
